Summary:
Ebenezer Gostelow was the Headmaster of Alma Public School, South Broken Hill, 1916–1921.17 While teaching, he began to paint in watercolour all the birds of Australia, using as guides specimens brought in by the children and, after retirement, from the Australian Museum in Sydney, where in 1928 he painted the Night Parrot.
