Summary:
A 10-year study of the Wongai Ningaui (Ningaui ridei) in the Simpson Desert suggested that this diminutive carnivorous marsupial produced just one litter per year, in late spring. In the 12th year of the study, two individual females were found to have produced a second litter. The animal shown here is one of those two fecund females, and has six joeys attached to her nipples.
