Summary:
Female phascogales (Phascogale spp.), such as this Brush-tailed Phascogale (P. tapoatafa), typically leave their six to eight young in the nest once they become too large to carry in the pouch. But sometimes the youngsters have other ideas and will hitch a ride on mum, clinging on tenaciously as she moves about in the treetops. Source: Jiri Lochman.
