Summary:
In a striking example of convergence, although distantly related and living on different continents, Monodelphis spp. (like M. domestica, pictured) of the Americas look remarkably like Australian antechinuses. Some Monodelphis spp., such as the Orange-sided Opossum (M. dimidiata), also exhibit a male die-off after breeding like that shown throughout the antechinus group. Source: Thiago Semedo.
