Index of molar tooth wear in mice, originally described from American material354 and used in most New Zealand studies to classify mice into age groups. Lidicker’s original definitions of the age classes are shown in the lower panel. The index gives consistent results, and has been partially calibrated against known-age material.441 (Drawn by Andrew J.
