Summary: 
Sound parameters. The entire segment presented here is a cross-section of all sound parameters captured within a span of a mere 1.5 second window, substantially enlarged, recording at the level of the syrinx in eight simultaneous measures, i.e. to be read vertically. The top part of the figure shows four syllables, separated by minibreaths. Next panel below: Vocalisation (V) time waveform with syllables numbered; third down: Rate of airflow through left (FLB) and right (FRB) sides of syrinx. Horizontal line zero airflow and inspiratory flow is accompanied by negative air sac pressure and is indicated in grey shading. Next line down: Sub-syringeal pressure in the thoracic air sac (PAS). The last three panels (SLB, SRB and SAS) show sound in left bronchus, right bronchus and thoracic airsac. (For full details see Suthers et al.)4
