Summary:
Ylang-ylang flowers (Cananga odorata) (images courtesy Russell Cumming). ‘Ylang-ylang’ refers to the fluttering slender flowers of this rainforest tree. The unusual blossom is composed of 6–10 elegant greenish filaments that turn yellow as they mature. While other native species in this family have similar flowers, the exotic aroma of Ylang-ylang is unique and is a popular massage oil ingredient.
