Summary:
Champak, Champaca (Magnolia champaca, formerly Michelia champaca). Listed among the ancient floral lineages of India, South-east Asia and southern China, these timber-yielding trees are popular fragrant-flowered ornamentals – notably Champaca (Magnolia champaca), Port Wine Magnolia (Magnolia figo), M. montana and M. alba. In India, Champaca has been a respected temple tree of the Jains and Hindus, while in Malaysia it was held in esteem for cemetery plantings.
