Summary:
Myristica malabarica (image by Renjusplace, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0). Malabar Nutmeg arils have a febrifugal reputation in Indian traditions. The remedy is considered cooling and expectorant, suitable for treating respiratory disorders (bronchitis and cough). The seed fat (butter) is also applied for the relief of rheumatic pain, muscle aches, sprains and to heal sores or ulcers. Investigations show analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, sedative and antimicrobial activity for various extracts [28].
