Summary: 
Effects of fire on the structure of humic acids, illustrated by comparisons between the IR spectrum of the humic acids extracted from a brown earth under oak in areas affected or not by fire, as well as subjected to a simulated fire under laboratory conditions. The plots correspond to spectral subtractions where the baseline (zero value) indicates the same absorbance in pairs of spectra normalised to equal area. The positive region corresponds to the peaks with increased intensity in the samples subjected to the effects of fire.
