Summary: 
Figure 31. Careful use of protective sleeves around plants used in restoration programs provides high visibility and alerts the community that restoration activities are underway. However, excessive use of such devices (middle) is not required as research has shown little or no significant improvement (other than protection from grazing) in plant survival and establishment as a result of the use of these protective shields. A protective netting material that is fully biodegradable is now available (right).
