WILLIAM ELLIS Green Rosella Platycercus caledonicus. Pencil and watercolour; 1777. A specimen of the rosella collected at Adventure Bay in late January 1777 ended up in the collection of Sir Joseph Banks, where it was later described and given the specific name caledonicus, in the mistaken belief that it came from New Caledonia.
