Figure 7.5: Planned rotational grazing has enabled Rough Speargrass, Austrostipa scabra, to recover as part of a pasture mix. While speargrass is palatable only when young, it is highly drought- and frost-tolerant and can play an important role in binding the soil on dry and rocky slopes where other grasses may struggle to survive (NSW Local Land Services 2015).
