Summary:
Stable isotope values and standard ellipse areas (SEAs, solid lines) for three hypothetical consumer groups. SEAs contain ~40% of the data and allow for estimating and comparing niche sizes and overlaps. In this example, species A has a smaller niche than species B and C, and although there is no niche overlap between species A and the other two species, there is some overlap between species B and C.
