Restoration of coastal wetlands on the floodplain by removal of bund walls. The illustrations show greenhouse gas emissions from sugarcane cropping before restoration (CO2 from soil carbon loss, nitrous oxide (N2O) from fertilisation and methane (CH4) from flooded drains and field burning), and removals and emissions after restoration from reinstatement of tidal flows (CO2 removals in above-ground biomass and soil carbon, and CH4 emissions from brackish water flooding).
