Summary:
Sir Walter Baldwin Spencer was English-born and an Oxford scholar. In 1886, he applied for, and won, the Foundation Chair of Biology at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He transformed the standards of the university and was an entrepreneur of Australian science. The successful 1894 Horn scientific expedition to central Australia recruited Spencer as zoologist and photographer. Source: Wikimedia Commons.
