Summary:
The Minmi (Minmi paravertebrae) was a herbivore that lived 119–113 million years ago (image taken at Daintree Discovery Centre). Ancient megafauna such as the Minmi would probably have found cycad seeds an interesting food resource. The offer of a short-term nutritional reward (the sarcotesta) would have readily enlisted these animals as an agent of seed dispersal, probably leaving the kernel intact within the hard shell as it passed through the animal [8].
