Summary:
Comparison of the initial mass of moisture to the total mass released up to ignition for several species of live fuel burned using a flat flame burner (Ceanothus crassifolius Torr., Arctostaphylos glandulosa Eastw., Quercus berberdifolia Liebm., Artemisia tridentate Nutt., Lyonia lucida (Lam.), Ilex glabra (L.) Gray, Serenoa repens (Bartr.) Small, and Morella cerifera (L.) Small). Points lying away from the diagonal line indicate that a significant amount of the water initially present in many species of live fuel remains at the moment of ignition.
