Figure 54. Arctotheca populifolia (left) is a widespread weed of foredunes in Western Australia, yet in its native location in the Cape Town region of South Africa is propagated in coastal nurseries, then dug and transplanted into rehabilitation sites. Similarly, Carpobrotus edulis (right) is a valued species in restoration sites in the Cape Town region, but is highly invasive in many areas including coastal regions of the south-west of Western Australia and displaces the native species, C. virescens.
