Summary:
A Southern Short-tailed, or Orange-sided, Opossum (Monodelphis dimidiata) in southern Brazil. The taxonomy of this large and diverse genus is in urgent need of revision, with this strongly red-flanked individual likely representing a cryptic species that differs from its relatives elsewhere in Brazil and neighbouring countries.
