Regulation of feeding in mono-gastrics is controlled by feeding centres in the arcuate nucleus (ARC) of the hypothalamus, which integrates neural, endocrine and nutrient signals from the gut, higher brain, liver and fat stores. Short-term (meal eating) and long-term (energy balance) regulation ensure energy homeostasis is achieved.
